My biggest concern is probably the logins. First we had to give up our Flickr usernames for Yahoo's... now I guess it means having to sign up for yet another service. Just goes to prove that OpenID is an awesome idea :)
That's one of reasons why, the current purchasing prices for it companies never can be justified: There are so many alternatives to all services, alternatives that are all free to the users.
One other reason is that users will become still more disloyal to old habits and provides as they discover the above mentioned fact, i.e. it will not be possible to buy a huge customer base, as it can "evaporate in a very short time", sometimes as a fact of the takeover by which a big player wanted to get them into their fold!
@Willumsgaard20: Although the other services might be free, there's a price to be paid for switching as well. Why I'm using flickr is not only because it's a great service, it's also because there are a lot of great people in their community.
Fragmentation would also make it more difficult to browse photos even though they've been properly tagged and placed on maps. A potential loss for all users really.

I would be more worried if someone didn't acquire the sinking ship that is yahoo...

But historically sinking ships bought by MS still sink, or at least disappear...

Something tells me that this brand spanking new yahoo! openid beta will not last long under MS's reign.

Sure, Rick, it will take some considerations to skip Flickr completely!

The next step will be to find good alternatives to Google's services, first of all the search engine including AdWords and -Sense. Any suggestions?

And to Google Maps. Unfortunately the best current alternative is from MS, isn't it?

@dontodd : I feel the same way. Was actually sad when it fell into Yahoo hands, and now I can only fear what will happen next.
